So you want to create a vision board?!
Go You!
You are already making steps toward achieving your goals! Personally, this year was my first time creating a tangible vision board that I could hang up and see every day.
In the past, I would just have of goals in my head, and at best maybe written them down. Last year I took things a step further and created a digital vision board on Pinterest. While I liked that method, it wasn’t something I saw every single day.
This year to ensure daily inspiration, I made a board that was more like a piece of art I could display in my beauty room. That way I would see it every single day to remind me of my goals!
Here are my steps to help you easily and affordably create A Vision board-
What you will need:
- Posterboard (to glue everything to)
- Frame (if you want to get boujee like me and hang it like art, which you should!)
*make sure the frame and poster board are the same size - Scissors
- Glue
- Printouts, pictures, and/or magazine clippings representing your goals and whatever inspires you
- Fun scrapbook paper or whatever else you want to add to give your board some flare

Step #1 What is going on my board?
First, you want to choose what the heck is going to go on your board, so it’s brainstorming sesh time! I would suggest grabbing a pen and paper and looking at these questions:
- What did you want to achieve last year that you didn’t get a chance to?
- What do you want your life to look like at the end of this year?
- What/Who inspires you?
Here are some categories I use to think about my goals that may help get your brain going!
- Health (mental and physical)
- Finances
- Family and friends
- Travel
- Daily Routines
- Organization
- Living Space
- Self Growth
- Career
Step #2 How To Organize Your Goals
Once you have a little brain dump on your paper, go through and circle a few things that are most important to you. I chose four main goals for my year. I would suggest keeping it under five main goals that way you don’t overwhelm yourself! Whatever is left on the paper can totally still be goals, but think of them like subgoals. BOOM…we’ve got our goals girl!
Step #3 Bringing The Goals Into Visual Representations
Time to bring your goals to life! For this step, my main resource was Pinterest. I searched for images that I thought would represent my goals and inspiration and printed them out. For example, for my goal of wanting to read a book a month, I searched “books aesthetic” to find a pretty photo that would remind me about my goal to read.
*Just a tip, add the word “aesthetic” to searches to find photos better suited for a vision board. Like in this example when I would search just “books” I would get photos of reading lists, not fun artsy photos of books to represent my goal.

Of course, you can also use regular search engines to look for images to print out, cut images out of magazines, or even get creative and take your own photos or draw your own pictures…talent! Also, don’t feel like everything needs to be an image. You can also use words to represent goals.
Cut all of your images out and get them prepped for laying them out on your board. This is also the time when you can add some flair by layering your photos with some scrapbook paper as frames or fun backgrounds like I did here with gold scrapbook paper:

Step #4 The Board Layout
You can really lay out your board however you choose, but I’ll tell you how I organized mine. Remember those main goals you circled? I decided to print the photos representing my main goals BIG! For all of my “subgoals”, I printed those images slightly smaller. I liked how this made certain goals pop and stand out more on my finished board.
When actually deciding where to place everything, I laid out the larger photos evenly spaced on my board and then layered the smaller photos on top to create a collage look. Try to go from a layer of your largest images to the top layer being your smallest images.

Step #5 Time To Glue and Commit!
Personally, when I got to this step I was a little nervous to glue anything down. I had just spent hours the night before searching for all of my images, printing them, and cutting them out. But if I can do it, so can you! By using glue sticks or regular glue, nothing is too permanent. I would avoid hot glue for this reason as it dries super quick!
Turn on your favorite inspiring movie, pour yourself a glass of wine (like I did!) or another favorite beverage, and plop down on your coffee table with all of your materials. Just be sure to keep that wine far from your board! Now, just go for it! Glue down all of your images, words, etc.

Congratulations! You have just created a bomb vision board to inspire you each day this year or whatever time period you chose to create your board for. Let’s crush our goals!
